Born in Genova, Italy, in 1969. He
started practicing drums at a very young age, thirteen years old.
He studied
drums with the great italian teacher Orazio Chiappino and
classical percussion at the N.Paganini conservatory of music in Genova.
At the age of seventeen he starting playing professionally, playing and
recording with several artists like Mike Stern (with Quadra fusion band), Johnny
Mars, Steve Washington, Terry Pack, Pippo Matino, Ricchi e Poveri, Francesco
Baccini,
Sanremo Band, Clem Ashford, Anne Ducrois, Jacques Horougne, Marco Fadda, Davide
Devoti, Will Ball and many others. He started teaching drums in 1991 and taught
drums and percussion in the best Ligurian schools of music like Music Line,
Roland Music School, Scuola Conte, Accademia della Musica. He endorses UFIP
cymbals and VIC FIRTH sticks and has been since the year 2000. In 2001 he
created and published (for Ricordi-Universal) a series of drum methods called
Drumland, five drumbooks that quickly became the best-selling books in Italy.
Now he's playing with The Lounge club Quartet (jazz-lounge), Fabrizio Cosmi Trio
(fusion-jazz rock), JJJSniff (pop-rock blues) and Contrasto (as
percussionist-smooth jazz and funk). Moreover in September 2008
Giuseppe attended the
Private Drum Teacher Seminar held by Dom Famularo and powered by Vic Firth; at
the end of which he received the Vic Firth teacher certificate.
In 2009 he joined the PDT program, thanks to Neil Larrivee (Education Director)
and Olin Johannesen, appearing on the “Education” section of Vic’s website, and
working to improve it with many other great musicians.
